Unlike Neodymium Rare Earth magnets which have a polished silver coating, Ferrite, or Ceramic Magnets have an unattractive dark-grey colour and they stain under friction. Ferrite magnets are stronger than Alnico. However, they are a lot weaker than our number one seller magnets, Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets. Unlike neodymium magnets the weaker properties of ceramic magnets makes them safer around electronic devices like pacemakers and hearing aids. Having said that, we still recommend a safe distance for both magnet types.
Ferrite magnets are attractive to those on a budget as ferrite material is a lot cheaper than Rare Earth. They have high temperature resistance (80 - 250 degree Celsius) and much better resistance to corrosion. Ideal for outdoor use. Ferrite magnets do not lose their magnetisation over time. They can only be demagnetised by external factors like heat or strong external magnetic fields.
